# Available tools

Once connected, your AI assistant can work with your account across the capabilities below. You do not need to call anything directly - ask your question in natural language and the AI will use the appropriate tool automatically.

## What a connection is allowed to do

When you connect an AI client, you choose an access level for each capability:

| Level     | Meaning                                     |
| --------- | ------------------------------------------- |
| Read | The AI can view this data. |
| Write | The AI can view this data and make changes. |
| No access | The AI cannot use this capability at all. |

These settings only narrow what the AI may do. A connection can never do more than your account already allows. Capabilities your account does not hold, and capabilities that are not yet available, are not shown. See [Connecting AI Client](/mcp/mcp-connecting-ai-client.md#connecting-your-ai-client) for where this is set.&#x20;

## **Statistics**

View performance data for your account, with flexible filtering and grouping. Available to advertisers and publishers, each scoped to their own data.

**Access:** Read

### **Advertiser statistics**

**What can you ask:**&#x20;

* Campaign performance over a date range
* Breakdowns by country, device, browser, operating system, zone, or any other available dimension
* Top or bottom performers by any metric
* Comparisons between time periods
* Filtered views (e.g. statistics for a specific campaign or zone)

**Example prompts:**&#x20;

* *Give me the top campaigns by spending for the last 7 days.*
* *What is my eCPA by country this month?*
* *Compare my impressions this week versus last week, grouped by device type.*
* *Which zones had the lowest CR yesterday?*

### **Publisher statistics**

**What can you ask:**

* Site or zone performance over a date range
* Breakdowns by country, device, browser, operating system, ad format, or any other available dimension
* Top or bottom performing sites and zones by any metric
* Comparisons between time periods
* Filtered views (e.g. statistics for a specific site or zone)

**Example prompts:**

* *What were my top earning zones last week?*
* *Show me revenue by country for the last 30 days.*
* *Which sites had the highest eCPM yesterday?*
* *Compare my impressions this month versus last month, grouped by ad format.*

## **Campaigns**

View your campaign configuration without leaving the conversation. Advertiser accounts only.

**Access:** Read. Write is planned for a later phase.

**What can you ask:**

* A list of your campaigns, filtered by status (running, paused) or searched by name
* The full configuration of a single campaign
* How many campaigns you have in a given state

A campaign list returns id, name, and status for each campaign. Asking about one campaign returns its full configuration, covering:

| Area                   | What is include                                                                                                                                                                                                                                 |
| ---------------------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Identity | Name, id, campaign group, campaign type, creation date. |
| Ad Format              | <p></p><p>Ad type and label, creative size.</p>                                                                                                                                                                                                 |
| Pricing | Pricing model (CPM, CPC, and so on), price, optimisation algorithm, linked bidder. |
| Budget and delivery | Total and daily budget limits, amount spent, impression limits, delivery mode, frequency capping. |
| Schedule | Start and end dates, timezone, day parting. |
| Status | Current status, calculated status (for example No Funds), approval state, rejection reason, and any active warnings. |
| Targeting | Countries and regions, languages, browsers, operating systems, devices, carriers, ISPs, categories, interests, keywords, IP ranges, sites, zones, RTB inventory, and retargeting lists. Each is returned as a targeted list and a blocked list. |
| Zone and network rules | Whether zones are targeted or blocked, partner network settings, blocked labels and product categories. |
| Creatives | Each variation with its landing URL, display URL, offer, status, and approval state, plus a summary count of approved, pending, rejected, and paused variations. |

Where a field holds an internal id, the response also carries the readable name alongside it, so the AI can answer in plain language rather than raw ids.

**Example prompts:**

* *How many active campaigns do I have?*
* *Show me the targeting settings for campaign X.*
* *List my paused campaigns.*
* *Which of my campaigns have rejected creatives?*
* *What is the daily budget on campaign X, and how much has it spent?*

## **Sites and zones**

View and manage your site and zone configuration. Publisher accounts only.

**Access:** Read or Write

### **Viewing**

**What can you ask:**

* A list of your sites or zones, filtered by status, site types or ad type, or searched by name
* The zones belonging to a particular site
* The full configuration of a single site or zone
* Which of your zones are active

**Asking about a site returns:**

| Area           | What is included                               |
| -------------- | ---------------------------------------------- |
| Identity | Name, id, URL, description. |
| Classification | Site type (website, app, and so on), category. |
| Status | Active state and approval status. |

Asking about a zone returns a much fuller configuration, covering:

| Area              | What is included                                                                                                                 |
| ----------------- | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Identity | Name, id, parent site id and name. |
| Format | Publisher ad type and label, size, whether the zone is responsive, and for multi-format zones the child zones and their layouts. |
| Pricing | Minimum CPM, floor type (soft or hard), pricing models. |
| Delivery controls | Frequency capping, impression capping, ad refresh rate, browser restrictions, fallback ads. |
| Appearance | Sticky position, border and colour, text colours, font, thumbnail setting. |
| Video | Pre-roll, mid-roll and post-roll settings, VAST configuration, VAST wrapper support, VMAP, CTA overlay, skip timing. |
| Pop settings | Trigger method, trigger classes, delay, fallback, new tab behaviour. |
| Blocking | Labels the publisher blocks, blocked product categories, compliance rules. |
| Category | Main and sub category. |
| Flags | Active state, inventory tracking, certification level, bid shading, BURL, ad transparency dialog. |

Where a field holds an internal id, the response also carries the readable name alongside it, so the AI can answer in plain language rather than raw ids.

Results are paginated, so large accounts return in batches rather than all at once.

**Example prompts:**

* *Which of my zones are active?*
* *What is the setup on site X?*
* *List all the zones on my site X.*
* *Which of my zones have a CPM floor set?*
* *Show me the labels blocked on zone X.*
* *List my sites that are still pending approval.*

### **Creating and updating**

Available when the connection has been granted Write access for this capability. Without it, every write returns a permission error. Connections authorized before access levels were introduced are read-only until you reconnect.

**What can you ask:**

* Create a site
* Create a zone of any supported ad type, including RTB, native widget, in-video VAST, web push, in-page push and multi-format
* Update a site's name, description or category
* Update a zone's settings, or move it to a different site

**Example prompts:**

* *Create a new site for example.com under the Entertainment category.*
* *Add a banner zone, 300x250, to my site X.*
* *Rename zone 1234567 to Homepage Top.*
* *Move zone 1234567 to my other site.*

Every change is summarised before it is applied, so nothing is written until you confirm.

**What to expect**

| Situation                      | Behaviour                                                                                  |
| ------------------------------ | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ |
| A new site | May be returned as unverified, in which case verification is completed in the admin panel. |
| Changing a site's category | Returns the site to pending approval. |
| A site's URL and type | Set at creation and cannot be changed afterwards. |
| A zone's ad type | Set at creation and cannot be changed afterwards. |
| Banner and mobile banner zones | Require a size. |
| RTB zones | Require an ad exchange partner, and do not take a size. |
| Formats not available to you | Formats reserved to administrators, or disabled on your network, cannot be created. |

All create and update actions are recorded in your account's audit log.

| get\_collection                     | Supporting              | Always available |

get\_collection returns reference lists such as site types, ad types, categories and ad exchange partners, so the AI can translate names into the ids other tools expect, and pick valid values when creating a zone. It holds no account data and is available to any connection regardless of the access levels you choose.

## **Public skills repository**

Alongside the MCP Server, there is a [public repository of pre-built skills](https://github.com/EXADS/ai-skills): optimised prompts and workflows designed for common advertising tasks. These give you a head start with proven approaches.

**Currently available:**

| Skill                        | What it does                                                                                                          |
| ---------------------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| daily-top-campaigns          | Shows your top-performing advertiser campaigns for a single day.                                                      |
| statistics-analysis | Analyses advertiser performance over a date range and compares it to a prior window. |
| fetch-advertiser-statistics: | Fetches advertiser statistics by any supported dimensions, usable on its own or as a building block for other skills. |
| fetch-publisher-statistics | Fetches publisher statistics by any supported dimensions. |

Skills are entirely optional. The MCP Server works with any prompt or question written from scratch.

# Agent Instructions
This documentation is published with GitBook. GitBook is the documentation platform designed so that both humans and AI agents can read, navigate, and reason over technical content effectively. Learn more at gitbook.com.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.exads.com/mcp/mcp-tools.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
