# How to track conversions with Voluum

## Step 1: Create the Goal ID for the Postback URL

In the advertiser account, go to **Campaigns** > **Conversion Tracking**. Create the **Goal ID** and copy the **postback URL** structure:

![Conversion Goal](https://2122107279-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FualFKt6C8xdYfe2WEYpJ%2Fuploads%2FXuHDOcoFSyUHr5ThWmgs%2Fconversion-tracking-voluum-goal.png?alt=media\&token=04e01ff1-1bdd-46ad-972d-13e6dfac56c2)

[Follow the goal creation process.](/advertisers/campaigns/conversion-tracking.md)

## Step 2: Add your network as traffic source in Voluum and configure the Postback <a href="#step-2-add-your-network-as-traffic-source-in-voluum-and-configure-the-postback" id="step-2-add-your-network-as-traffic-source-in-voluum-and-configure-the-postback"></a>

To track conversions on the ad server, add the `{conversions_tracking}` dynamic tracker to your campaign URL. It uniquely identifies each click.

Store this tracker in Voluum. Configure your network as a traffic source to notify the ad server when a conversion occurs, using the pre-defined template in Voluum.

Click **Traffic Sources**, then **Create** > **Traffic Source**.

![Traffic Source](https://2122107279-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FualFKt6C8xdYfe2WEYpJ%2Fuploads%2FPSx08TOu4oZVNyFYgDHp%2Fconversion-tracking-voluum-traffic-source.png?alt=media\&token=627dfbe6-6831-475c-8ec3-83352340976e)

Follow Voluum's [traffic-source instructions](https://doc.voluum.com/article/add-a-custom-traffic-source-to-voluum).

In **Postback URL**, replace `REPLACE` with the Step 1 goal ID.

![Goal ID](https://2122107279-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FualFKt6C8xdYfe2WEYpJ%2Fuploads%2FW34DMaSvpAanVvGx2Snw%2Fconversion-tracking-voluum-goal-id.png?alt=media\&token=b767876c-7305-4da9-8767-b2669b3892dd)

Your postback URL should look like this:

```
http://syndication.example.com/tag.php?goal=66a8605e6cce49fbb8056f273f8e1a2e&tag={externalid}
```

***

{% hint style="info" %}
For a dynamic goal value, add `&value={payout}` to the end of the postback URL. This passes the conversion value.
{% endhint %}

***

```
http://syndication.example.com/tag.php?goal=66a8605e6cce49fbb8056f273f8e1a2e&tag={externalid}&value={payout}
```

***

Save the postback after completing these edits.

***

{% hint style="info" %}
Replace `syndication.example.com` with your ad server's conversion domain.
{% endhint %}

## Step 3: Create an Offer in Voluum <a href="#step-3-create-an-offer-in-voluum" id="step-3-create-an-offer-in-voluum"></a>

Click **Offers**, then **Create** > **Offer**.

![Offer](https://2122107279-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FualFKt6C8xdYfe2WEYpJ%2Fuploads%2FIRxjSlIKPP8HPSYu6eHF%2Fconversion-tracking-voluum-offer.png?alt=media\&token=23bd8625-28df-4d30-8d0a-6acb651c6153)

Select an affiliate network, if applicable. Then select a country label and enter an offer name.

Add the product URL to **Offer URL**. For example:

```
http://mypage.com/?a=14030&c=64375&aff_id=2422&s1=
```

![Offer](https://2122107279-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FualFKt6C8xdYfe2WEYpJ%2Fuploads%2FunX8IZMrvxuUdR8MKn7j%2Fconversion-tracking-voluum-offer2.png?alt=media\&token=63db4773-d059-42c5-9c9f-194d41aca281)

In the offer's **Conversion Tracking** section, select **Auto** or **Manual** under **Payout**. If you added an affiliate network in the previous step, then you can select **Auto** so that the value is read from your affiliate network payout token. Ensure the network is connected to Voluum.

Select Manual and enter a payout value if you have no affiliate network, or if your network does not pass payouts dynamically.

![Offer](https://2122107279-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FualFKt6C8xdYfe2WEYpJ%2Fuploads%2FfdDfaaTYOl1zLX5V9OqG%2Fconversion-tracking-voluum-offer3.png?alt=media\&token=cdc1f896-20a4-4b34-9da9-40c810cbee34)

***

{% hint style="info" %}
This postback URL belongs to the affiliate platform. It differs from the traffic-source postback URL.
{% endhint %}

***

Click **Save**.

## Step 4: Create a campaign in Voluum <a href="#step-4-create-a-campaign-in-voluum" id="step-4-create-a-campaign-in-voluum"></a>

Click **Campaigns,** click on **Create**, you will have two options "Campaign Simple" and "Campaign Advanced". In this guide, we will use "Campaign Simple".

![Voluum Campaign](https://2122107279-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FualFKt6C8xdYfe2WEYpJ%2Fuploads%2FkeL2GbTTdszMOjhuUAsS%2Fconversion-tracking-voluum-campaign1.png?alt=media\&token=87b97521-540e-4339-837c-902fe94710f7)

In **General**, select the custom traffic source from Step 2. Enter a campaign **Name**.

Select a **Cost Model** and **Cost Value**. (The API overwrites these values when enabled.)

Complete the remaining fields until you reach **Campaign Destination**.&#x20;

In **Campaign Destination**, select the offer you want to promote and any landing pages.

![Voluum Campaign](https://2122107279-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FualFKt6C8xdYfe2WEYpJ%2Fuploads%2F8ryg3xNhl5lQ9fUuLnKv%2Fconversion-tracking-voluum-campaign2.png?alt=media\&token=1e5dea6a-4edc-4223-9e06-3ec9e59e98b2)

Click **Save**. Voluum displays the campaign URL needed to create your ad server campaign.

Example campaign URL:

```
https://voluum-domain.com/bc286faf-3176-4e88-a398-428a824c051c?campid={campaign_id}&varid={variation_id}&source={src_hostname}&keyword={keyword}&tags={tags}&siteid={site_id}&zoneid={zone_id}&catid={category_id}&country={country}&format={format}&cost={actual_cost}&tag={conversions_tracking}
```

![Voluum Campaign](https://2122107279-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FualFKt6C8xdYfe2WEYpJ%2Fuploads%2FILStfY9eyCOQYZKG1vgi%2Fconversion-tracking-voluum-campaign3.png?alt=media\&token=e03100a8-97e7-4bf7-830c-fc171d48fc24)

## Step 5: Create the campaign on the Ad Server <a href="#step-5-create-the-campaign-on-exads" id="step-5-create-the-campaign-on-exads"></a>

Paste the Step 4 campaign URL into the campaign **Variation**. Ensure it includes `{conversions_tracking}` to send conversion details to Voluum.

![EXADS Campaign](https://2122107279-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FualFKt6C8xdYfe2WEYpJ%2Fuploads%2FmtHtj20xfFuTkqU4LRvi%2Fconversion-tracking-voluum-campaign4.png?alt=media\&token=8d818df8-96d2-4efc-b1c0-242a7246d135)

Finish campaign setup. [Read the campaign creation guide](/advertisers/campaigns/creating-a-campaign/step-1-general.md) for details.

When setup is complete, conversions appear in Voluum and the ad server. Enable the matching goal column in **Campaigns List** and **Statistics**.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.exads.com/advertisers/campaigns/conversion-tracking/conversion-tracking-voluum.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
