# Getting Started

Welcome to your new Ad Server! To get started, you will need to add Advertisers and Publishers, set up some Ad Zones and create some Campaigns to run on them. Once you have done this, you will be able to use the **Statistics** tab to get powerful insights into how your Ad Server is doing.

## Step 1: Creating a Client User on Your Ad Server

When setting up your Ad Server, the first thing you will want to do is add **Clients** yourself or invite them to join via email. To do this:

1. Click on the **Accounts** tab.
2. Click **New Account**.
3. Fill in the **Add Account** Form:

External users will get an email invite to join the Ad Server and set up their own login credentials.</td></tr></tbody></table>

4. When you have filled in the form, click **Add Account**.
5. You will be taken back to the **Accounts** page and will see the new account at the top of the list.

## Step 2: Using the Quick Navigation Menu

When managing your Ad Server, once you have created some accounts, the **Quick Navigation** menu allows you to select an account and log in as that account without the need for login credentials.

### Selecting an Account from Admin View

To see the Admin Panel for any of your accounts, click on **Admin View**.

A drop-down will appear showing a list of all the accounts on your Ad Server and their associated email addresses. You can search this list using the search bar at the top of the drop-down.

Click on the account you wish to view.

### Log In as Another Account

Once you have selected an account from the quick navigation menu, you will log in and view the Admin Panel as that account does.

The account name will appear in the left drop-down menu and a new drop-down will appear to the right. Using the drop-down to the right you can choose whether to view this account as an **Advertiser** or **Publisher**.

**Tip**: Once you have navigated to a few client's accounts, they will appear at the top of the **Admin View** drop-down, in the order you visited them, under the heading **Recently Visited**.

You can also navigate to a client account in the **Accounts** tab by clicking **Login as user** to the left of it:

### Returning to Admin View

When logged in as an account, you can return to **Admin View** at any time by clicking the account name in the left drop-down, and selecting **Go to Admin View**.

## Step 3: Creating a Zone as a Publisher

Using the quick navigation menu, log in to a Publisher account. Here you will be able to create ad zones to receive ads from Advertisers.

Once you have proceeded through these steps and clicked **Create Zone**, the zone will begin to receive ads from Advertisers.

## Step 4: Creating a Campaign

Using the quick navigation menu, log in to an Advertiser account. Here you will be able to create ad campaigns that can run on Publisher ad zones.

To do this, click on **Campaigns** > **New Campaign**.

This will take you to the first step in a five-step process for creating a campaign. Follow the links below to find out more about each step:

* [Step 3: Targeting](/advertisers/campaigns/creating-a-campaign/step-3-targeting.md): Here you set what ad zones are targeted by the campaign, for everything from location, to browser, to operating system.
* [Step 4: Pricing & Limits](/advertisers/campaigns/creating-a-campaign/step-4-pricing-and-limits.md): Here you set the pricing model and bid price for the campaign, and set limits on budget, impressions and time period.
* [Step 5: Zones](/advertisers/campaigns/creating-a-campaign/step-5-zones.md): Here you can set which websites and zones you wish to target with your campaign. If step 3 above is completed you should see the site and zone you created on this step already.

Once you have proceeded through the five steps and clicked **Create**, the campaign will begin to run on your Ad Server.

## Step 5: Viewing Statistics for Your Ad Server

When you are in **Admin View** and go to the **Statistics** tab, by default you will see statistics reports for the whole Ad Server.

* The sub-tabs at the break down the Statistics into reports by **Dates**, **Advertising, Publishing, Account Managers,** **Business Developers, Categories**, **Locations**, **Devices**, **Operating Systems**, **Languages**, **Browsers**, **Carriers**, **Ad Block**, **VR**, **Ad Format** and **Hour/Day Intervals**.
* Whichever sub-tab you are in, you will see **Graph Data** at the top of the screen and **Table Data** at the bottom of the screen.

### Choosing a Date Range

Click on the date range selector in the top left to choose a date/date range to view statistics for. The default is **Last 7 Days**.

**Note**: Choosing **This Month** in the date range selector will only show data for this month up to the current date.

### Filtering Your Data

You can filter the currently selected sub-tab by clicking on the **+Add Filter** button at the top of the screen.

When you select a filter, you can **Select All** or tick the boxes beside the items you wish to view, and click **APPLY**. The results that you see will be filtered by the items that you have selected.

You can add more filters after the first one. For example, you might want to filter by **Countries** and then by **Devices**.

### Filtering by Advertiser and Publisher

When managing your Ad Server, by default you will see statistics for the whole Ad Server. However, you can filter these statistics by Advertiser or Publisher, as well as choosing which individual Advertisers or Publishers you wish to see.

* At the top of the **Statistics** tab, click on the **+Add Filter** button.
* Select **Advertisers** or **Publishers** from the list.
* Tick the **Select All** checkbox to see all Advertisers or Publishers, or tick the checkbox beside the particular Advertisers or Publishers you want to see data for.
* You can search the Advertisers or Publishers to find the ones you want to filter by.
* If you have selected Advertisers or Publishers from various parts of the list you can tick the **Show selected only** checkbox to show them all:

When you tick **Select All** for Advertisers or Publishers, you cannot select more than 500 in total.

Accounts that are both Advertiser and Publisher will show in both the **Advertisers** and **Publishers** filter.

**Tip**: You can also drill down into your data in the **Table Data** panel. Clicking on an item in the Table Data will automatically add a filter to the multifilter bar at the top of the **Statistics** tab.

### Ad Server Metrics

When managing your Ad Server, if you view any report in the **Statistics** tab, in the **Graph Data** at the top, and the **Table Data** at the bottom, you will see three key Ad Server metrics that Advertisers and Publishers don't see:

| Metric            | Description                                                                                         |
| ----------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Network Revenue   | This is the gross revenue of the Ad Server before payouts to Publishers.                            |
| Publisher Revenue | This is the Network Revenue minus the network fee. It is the amount that is paid out to Publishers. |
| Margin            | This shows the Network Revenue minus the Publisher revenue.                                         |
